How To Replace Ray Ban Wayfarer Lenses
The famous Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses are known pretty much anywhere in the world. Many people love them. But many of those who wear them end up dealing with annoying scratches. Whether you’re there, looking at a damaged pair, or you’re just trying to make a change of color lens, the question is on your lips. Should you buy a new pair or just purchase replacement lenses?
Considering that the replacement lenses are significantly cheaper than a new pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, the answer is pretty obvious. But you’re still left with the challenge of replacing the Ray Ban Wayfarer lenses. Do not fret! We have all the right answers for all your questions. Let’s show you what you need to do.
First, make sure you know exactly what lenses to order
There’s no point in knowing how to replace these lenses if you’re getting the wrong size. So, before anything else, know that the Ray-Ban Wayfarer lenses come in one of the 54, 50 or 47 sizes. Knowing the lens size, along with its specific style, will allow you to make the perfect choice for replacement lenses. Feel free to use the online diagram for extra guidance on how to select your new lenses.
Second, learn how to remove the old lenses without damaging the frame
Needless to say, even when you have the right lenses, if you damage the frame in the replacement process, you haven’t gained anything. On the contrary! To avoid such risks, you’ll have to carefully handle the part where you take out the current lenses.
You’ll have to place the sunglasses with the temples oriented outward and the lenses toward you. You’ll hold them by the nosepiece and put your thumbs at one corner, with the other fingers spread around the lens.
When you’re ready, push the frame with your thumbs, in an outward motion. This should allow the lens to get out. Really, all it takes is the right pressure and a firm move. If it doesn’t work from the first attempt, consider heating the frames under hot water or with a hair dryer. You don’t want to make it so hot that you won’t be able to touch it, but it still has to be very warm to be more flexible.
Third, insert the new lenses and give them a good clean
Inserting the new lenses is similar to taking out the old ones. You’ll just need to bring the Ray-Bans with the temples toward you and place a new lens inside the frame. Make the lens to pop into the frame by pushing with your two thumbs on one of its sides.
You start from one part of the lens and then continue applying pressure evenly until the entire lens will fit the frame opening. Then, repeat for the second lens and make sure you give them a good clean on both sides. With brand new, crystal-clear Ray Ban Wayfarer lenses, you’ll see life in a new light!
